Let’s be honest, there is a lot going on in the world today. Sometimes it can be really hard to find yourself amidst the chaos. We are afraid that if we take some time and just focus on ourselves, we are going to miss something extremely important. Here’s the truth: you will. But that isn’t always the end of the world either.
No matter who you are, you are going to need to find some mindfulness amidst the chaos. Especially as we move into the next political season for so many countries. Practice these tips now for when you need them – even the most practiced people will have trouble to find mindfulness now.
Even so, if you are struggling to find a way to find calmness and presence amidst the chaos, here are some of our favorite tips to do so:
Start With A Fitness Routine You Love
If you are in need of some fitness as well as mindfulness in your routine, you may be able to find that in the same place. Many people have started to exercise as a form of therapy. Whether you are signing up for a spin class in New York City or a dance class in Toronto, you need to find something that causes your body to get excited but calms your mind.
Fitness releases endorphins in your brain, making you feel happy, even if you are upset about what is going on in the world. When you fall into a routine, your brain starts producing these endorphins much more easily. Even more beneficial, you will start to crave going to the gym or to that dance class just to shut off your brain.
Meditating is another great way to find calm in your brain. Now, you cannot just start meditating and be instantly good at it. In fact, you might be really bad at it for some time. But stick with it – you will get better. Meditating is all about letting go of what is in your brain and focusing on how you feel. Often, people will find solutions to their problems during this time. They will clear their minds and the solution will come.
Meditation is about more than just sitting and being still, but that is the main draw of it for so many people. To get ready, you can start with a mantra for peace, play some music, burn incense, and find a comfortable place to sit on the floor.
Start Laughing More
The world can feel so serious sometimes that we don’t even know if we are allowed to laugh – but you are. It is easy to go days and days without taking the time to be silly. There are so many ways that you can do this – read the biography of a comedian, watch a few clips of Robin Williams, look up some memes, or go onto YouTube and watch some of Smosh’s Try Not To Laugh videos and you will immediately see why laughter is so therapeutic.
Just remember that there are things we can laugh at without reminding ourselves of what is going on in the world – those late-night shows are great, but they too often remind us of politics and everything going wrong.
Get Off Of Social Media
Social media is making us sadder, madder, and fatter – and all of that makes us feel more stressed out. If social media and the echo chamber it produces are stressing you out, consider just deleting it. If you want to stay abreast of what is happening with your favorite celebrities, friends, family, and certain people in the news, you can just delete those who stress you out. Even better, you can make a separate account where you only focus on people who bring you joy.
As always, there are many ways to find calm. You can do so much more than is on this list, but these are just some of the methods that have worked the best for the greatest number of people. What are your favorite ways to find peace and calm amidst the chaos of the world? Are you going to start meditating? Sign up for that dance class in Toronto?
